By the time of leading up to the War of the Forbidding, Ander and his older brother, Arion were at odds. At one time he and Arion had been close. However when their younger brother Aine had been killed in a hunting accident eleven years prior, Aine's daughter Amberle had turned to Ander for comfort. Arion's jealousy soon became open contempt. Things only got worse when Amberle had forsaken her position as a Chosen. Arion blamed Ander's influence and then his contempt turned to thinly veiled hatred. Ander believed that Arion was poisoning their father's mind against him. [3]
