Prologue
The Druid, Brona, believed strongly in the necessity to master the mystical arts that were reemerging after the Great Wars, and he gather a group of followers who help this belief. They continued to practice magic to greater and greater lengths. Eventually Brona discovered within the Druid Libraries, an evil tome the Ildatch. Studying it arts, the book came to subvert the Druid, into someone wishing greater and greater power. Eventually the conflicts that occurred around Brona's obsession lead, the Druid Council to banish Brona and his followers from Paranor.[1]
First War of the Races
Sometime after the banishment of Brona, a small sector of the race of Man revolted against the teachings of the Druid council. Quickly they amassed a large highly trained army and marched on the rest of the races. Very soon it grew into a full-scale war. Very nearly successful, eventually the armies of Man were crushed by the combined might of the other races, Elves, Trolls, Dwarves, and Gnomes, lead by the Druid Council. Brona was crushed and it was believed that he was destroyed.[1]
Aftermath
After the war, in an attempt to preserve peace in the future, the Druids divided the known world into was has become called the Four Lands, with Paranor at it strategic center. Men where so devastated by the war and what they did, they took on a strict isolationist policy and most moved to the deep Southland. It was believed that such extreme separation would prevent any one race from gaining dominance of any of the other races in the future. Because of the damage that magic had caused on the world, the Druids very nearly outlawed the research, study and practice of all magic.[2]
