Hendel is one of the main characters in The Sword of Shannara. He is a taciturn Dwarf, that saves Menion Leah from a siren and takes a liking to the highlander. He joins the company on its quest to find the Sword of Shannara. He is a key player in the defense of Tyrsis, though he dies in its defense.
