The Timeline for First King of Shannara is a visual representation of the time frame for the events that take place during First King of Shannara. It is a best attempt to piece together the events that happen based on the descriptions of time given by Terry Brooks in the novel. Where ever possible the references to time from the book will be used. In some cases assumptions about time must be made since the author does not provide something more specific. If you discover more information or anything that contradicts what it here, please add it.

Prelude Timeline

The Prelude Timeline lists some of the events that took place prior to the opening of the book. These may or may not be pertinent to the story, but they are listed or can be inferred. Years listed are years before the first event in the main story line.

~1550 Events of the Second War of the Races
- 3wks Kinson begins waiting in the Streleheim Plains for Bremen's return.[1]
- 6mo Troll Marauders sweep out of the north and begin subjugating all the Troll tribes.[1]

Bremen leaves Kinson to journey into the Skull Kingdom to find Brona.[2]

- 10mo Mareth comes to Paranor to study as a Healer.[3]
1548 The last time Bremen visits Paranor.[4]
1545 Bremen seeks out Kinson Ravenlock to help him at an Inn in Varfleet.[5]

Last time that Tay visits Arborlon before the Second War of the Races.[6]

1540 Bremen is banished from Paranor.[7]
1535 Caerid Lock becomes the Captain of the Druid Guard at Paranor.[8]

Tay Trefenwyd comes to Paranor to study with the Druids.[9]

Timeline

This is the timeline tracks the events that are outlined within book as the story unfolds.

Day(s) Event(s)
1 During the night Bremen meets with Kinson on the Streleheim Plains. Bremen sleeps while Kinson keeps watch.
2 Early morning the two spot a Skull Bearer tracking Bremen.[10] They leave for Paranor reaching it by dawn. Bremen's warning to the Druids is rejected.[11]
3 Bremen leaves Paranor with Mareth, Kinson, Risca, and Tay heading south towards Kennon Pass.
4 By sunset the group reaches the Valley of Shale.[12]

Near midnight the forces of Warlock Lord attack and destroys all the Druids at Paranor. Paranor has fallen.[12]

5 An hour before dawn Bremen speaks with the shade of Galaphile at the Hadeshorn.[12]

Midday Risca departs the group heading south and east to help the Dwarves. The rest of the group heads north towards the Kennon Pass.

6 Tay leaves the group when the reach the Kennon, heading west to Arborlon.[13]
7 Early, before dawn Bremen, Kinson and Mareth reach Paranor. Bremen recovers the Eilt Druin.[13]

Risca heads north to Jannisson Pass to scout the Northland army.[14]

8 Tay encounters a Skull Bearer and Gnome hunters south of Drey Wood at night.

Risca enters the camp of the Northland army at night and makes an attempt on killing the Warlock Lord. He barely escapes.[15] Mareth and Kinson barter for food above Varfleet during the night.[16]

9 Tay reaches the Valley of Rhenn and meets Jerle Shannara. Jerle sends Preia Starle to find out about Paranor.

Risca reaches the Anar.[17] Mareth tells Kinson the truth of her history. That night they cross the Rabb Plains.[18] Northland army 20 miles above Storlock.[19]

10 Tay has a picnic near the Rill Song with his sister, Kira and her Family.[20]

In the early morning Kinson and Mareth reach Storlock.

11 At dawn Preia reaches and scouts out Paranor.[21]
Northland army camps opposite Storlock. Trolls enter village and are frightened away by Mareth when she uses her magic.[22]
12 Preia returns late in the evening. Tay and Jerle meet with Courtann Ballindarroch and then with the Elven High Council. The Council agrees to search for the Black Elfstone and support the Dwarves. Late that evening, A Skull Bearer and Gnome raiders assassinate nearly the entire Elven Royal Family.

Northland army decamps and moves south.[23]

13 Jerle and Tay decide to leave in search of the Black Elfstone.[24] Tay recruits Vree Erreden to help locate the elfstone.[25]

Bremen reaches Storlock and rests for the night.[23]

14 Jerle and Tay leave in the morning, while its raining, leading a company west over the Rill Song and into the forests in search of the Black Elfstone.[26]

Bremen, Mareth, and Kinson leave Storlock for Darklin Reach early in the morning.[23]
